SERVICES

We’d love for you to join us in one of our worship services, whether you’re just visiting or looking to come regularly.

 Worship on Sundays

Our 9.30 am Worship service is for all ages with the aim of growing vibrant, faith-centered individuals and families. We sing a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary songs in worship and explore the questions of faith together.

The following core values define our Church culture.

We strongly care about, Worship, Community outreach and Service.

Worship – we are a worshiping church

Our goal is to express our devotion to God through supporting each other in worship, teaching and service. We are called to be faithful witnesses to Christ’s message of hope and salvation for all. We are an open and inclusive church.

Community Outreach and Service – we are a serving church

Our goal is to see every member develop their God-given gifts and use them wisely and effectively to reach out to the community as Christ’s hands and feet. we are called to serve the wider community and the world, showing God’s love to all people.

Caring and Loving Relationships – we are a caring and loving church

Our goal is to be a loving, friendly and caring church that reaches out to all so that every person is loved and cared for and feels a sense of belonging.

Rosefield is proudly an open and affirming church.

HISTORY

Rosefield History

We thank God for the faith, sacrifice and foresight of our founders who provided the sure foundation on which to build since 1911.

Why Rosefield?

In 1845 part of the Fullarton Ward was sold to William Ferguson who named the property Rosefield after his wife, Rosina. The area was farmed for several years until the property was sub-divided and shops, houses and St Chads Anglican Church were built. Rosefield became a village and postal district, adjacent to Fullarton and Myrtle Bank.

A small group of worshippers at Myrtle Bank met in their homes where services were conducted by visiting lay preachers. After a period of time it was felt that their numbers were sufficient to build a small church and the assistance and support of Rev William Jefferies ( Minister at the Parkside Methodist Church ) was obtained.

After fundraising was completed a group of Trustees was formed, land was purchased in Carlton Street and the original Rosefield Methodist Church was erected in 1911.

When Post Codes were introduced in 1967 Rosefield was renamed Highgate.  At this time it was decided by the Church to keep the name Rosefield.

In 1977 the Uniting Church in Australia was formed, linking the Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian churches.

We are now named Rosefield Uniting Church, also known as the William Jefferies Memorial Church, to honor our history.

We celebrated our 100 year anniversary in 2011 and a detailed history is recorded in the publication, Rosefield Reflections.

WE ARE THE UNITING CHURCH

We are part of the Uniting Church in Australia.

We are a Christian community encouraging opportunity for faith, growth and service in God’s world

Rosefield Uniting Church is part of the greater Uniting Church in Australia. The Uniting Church is made up of a series of inter-related councils — local churches, regional presbyteries, state synods, and the national Assembly. Each council has its distinct tasks, and each council recognises the limits of its responsibilities in relation to other councils. Read More.

The Uniting Church was formed on 22 June 1977, when the Congregational, Methodist, and Presbyterian Churches united to become one. The Basis of Union is the document which affirms our Christian faith and is the guide to what is central to the life of the Uniting Church in Australia.
