LIBRARY

Rosefield Uniting Church Library has two collections. The main collection is housed in the Church foyer and is broadly subdivided into sections. Bible, Theology, Ministry, Christian life and Church history. The library also has a smaller collection of Small Groups and Study Resources. Many of these items have multiple copies.

Both collections are searchable on the Rosefield Library website.

Borrowing is easy – just sign your name in the Borrowing Book by the library along with the titles you are borrowing.

WORSHIP ON A SUNDAY

Building each other up in fellowship and in hearing the Word proclaimed.

Frequently Asked Questions

So, you’re thinking about coming to church but not sure what to expect?

Be assured you will find a warm welcome!

Below are some answers to frequently asked questions:

What time should I come?

Our regular worship service time on Sunday is 9.30 am. Arriving a few minutes early to the service is fine.

Where do I park?

You’ll find the church at 2 Carlton Street, Highgate close to the corner of Fullarton Road. The main car-park is adjacent to the Church on Carlton Street, with another car park across the road, at 1a Carlton Street.

What door should I use?

The main entrance to the church complex on Sundays is from the eastern car-park, through a small Porch. Reserved disabled parking is available near the entrance.

Is there wheel-chair access?

Yes, there is level access through the door to the Porch and then the whole complex is on the same level.

Are there disabled toilet facilities?

Yes, a family toilet is located off the Foyer on the western side.

What should I wear?

You will find people wearing anything from shorts and jeans to suits. There are no rules! Wear what makes you feel comfortable, confident that you will always be welcome!

Are children welcome?

We love children, and they are always welcome in church!
Children of all ages are welcome to be in worship. There is an activity corner in the Worship space and a Creche room for the use of families.

LGBTIQ+?

We are an open and affirming congregation. Many members of the community identify as LGBTIQ+, including those in leadership.

What happens when I arrive?

You will be greeted and welcomed and you’ll receive a newsletter with details of the week’s activities in the life of the church (newsletters are also available online here.)

Will I have to introduce myself?

You can expect a warm greeting from members of the congregation, but don’t worry, you won’t be asked to stand up and introduce yourself.

What happens during a worship service?

We join together: Bringing worship to God through multimedia, our prayers, our singing and our presence. Building each other up in fellowship and in hearing the Word proclaimed. Bringing our prayers and concerns for each other and the world. Bringing our offering for the Work.

We are led by our singers and musicians with songs of praise.
We also bring our sung praise to God in the traditional hymns.

The words of songs, Hymns and prayers are projected onto the screen.

We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion on the second Sunday of each month.

We pray that our worship together will be…
‘A time of joy, hope, wonder and grace, challenging and encouraging of spiritual growth.’

How long is a worship service?

Services usually last an hour. We gather for coffee and snacks in the Foyer on the western side of the worship space at the close of worship each week.
If you are able to come or stay, it is a good time to get to know people a little bit more!

Do I have to fill out the visitor’s slip?

The slip of paper we ask visitors to fill out allows us to send you a card in the mail or an email later in the week. After you’ve been to church a few times, Rev Telfer will use the information on the visitor’s slip to make contact with you.

Do I have to put money in the offering plate?

You don’t have to give anything. The offering is a chance to give financially so that ministry inside and outside of the church can happen.

Do I have to be a church member to take communion?

In the Uniting Church in Australia all are welcome at God’s table. You don’t have to be a member of the Uniting Church to partake. Absolutely everyone is welcome!
